Product Review Backwoods Chubby 3400

Backwoods Chubby 3400

Finally, Backwoods Smoker has produced a smoker that you can use in your backyard after having a long history of making them for restaurants and competitions. A serious pitmaster who needs a long-lasting, professionally made, and versatile charcoal smoker would want to go for the Backwoods Chubby 3400 vertical charcoal smoker.

It only weighs 130 pounds making it extremely portable for your camping trips, tailgates, and beach days. Its versatility is unmatched to most charcoal smokers in the market since it can easily be turned into a grill by just removing the stainless steel water pan.

With the Backwoods Chubby 400, you can grill or smoke for your friends & family without breaking a sweat. You can easily fit in a pork butt, a rack of ribs, a couple of briskets, thigh combos, and a leg thanks to its large cooking space. This Backwoods charcoal smoker comes with 4 racks which measure 16.5 x 15.5 inches and has an additional slider for an easier arrangement of food.

Unboxing and assembling this smoker couldn’t be easier as it comes fully assembled and ready to light up within eight minutes of unboxing. It comes tightly padded with styrofoam which also protects the temperature gauge and door latches. It has a strong cabinet cooker whose powder-coated outer surface not only protects it from weather elements but also makes it look great.

The Backwoods Chubby 3400 is designed to get to desired temperatures fast and keep them there for long periods. The Chubby 3400 is an offset airflow smoker that creates a uniform cooking atmosphere by compelling hot air and smoke beneath an extra metal plate called the heat diverter to the cooking area.

What We Like

Insulation: The Backwoods Chubby 3400 comes standard with one-inch steel insulation which helps to keep the temperatures in the smoker steady for hours.

Steady control of temperature: The construction and design of the Backwoods Chubby 3400 has allowed concise control of temperature with no need for additional thermal regulators.

Portability: This smoker is amazingly portable given the huge amount of food it cooks in one go. One person can be able to load it in the car but two would be better. Adding castor wheels makes moving it around a lot easier.

Cooking capacity: It has a big enough cooking chamber to feed a small team of footballers and yet is still small enough to be placed on a tabletop.

What We Don’t Like

Cleaning up the water pan: Once you have finished cooking and it is time to clean up the smoker, the water pan can be hard to empty especially when it is full. You can make life easier by emptying before it’s full or wait until the juice solidifies.

No standard drip guard: When pulling a cooking grate out of the cooking chamber, food juices drip onto the door of the firebox and run to the ground. Backwood Smoker has not offered the drip guard as standard equipment when purchasing the Backwoods Chubby 3400. So if you’re buying this smoker, you’ll need to add the drip guard to your order.

The Backwoods chubby 3400 is a fantastic barbecue smoker for any upcoming pitmaster since it comes with features that are fit for professional use. While it may be priced a bit higher than others, it also produces outstanding results as it is designed to be at competition level.

You can cook all types of meat and get amazing results. It would be great to add wheel casters, a drip guard and the Backwoods branded cover to protect it from the elements.
